NI EN MORE uses education, design and fashion as tools to empower women who come from marginalized neighborhoods in Ciudad Juarez. In a year of training, the women learn to develop a design, sew a prototype, produce the ecological colors and print with them, and acquire knowledge about financial planning and advertising. The goal is to enable them to open their own workshop in their neighborhood and work as a multiplier. The cuts of the collections are inspired by the dresses of the indigenous communities from which some of the women come. All profits generated from the sale of the collections go to community projects.

How does the project contribute to more supportive, socially and ecologically just lifestyles and economies?

Apart from the creation of their sustainable fashion collections they also carry out "up-cycling" projects, modifying second-hand clothes. In this way, they want to send a signal against the waste of resources on the planet and encourage people worldwide to consume in a political and ethical way to initiate changes in the "fast fashion" industry. Because in addition to the labor exploitation of seamstresses in the global south, "fast fashion" uses chemicals that are toxic to humans and the environment. That is why the collective NI EN MORE works only with sustainable fabrics and ecological colors made from plants. In their work, they combine ecological and feminist issues and thus contribute with their project to a socially and ecologically more just world.
