Eleonora Rohland

 

Eleonora Rohland es profesora de historia enrelazada en las Américas en la Universidad de Bielefeld. Se formó como historiadora económica, social y medioambiental en la Universidad de Berna (Suiza) y se doctoró en la Universidad del Ruhr de Bochum (Alemania) en 2014, mientras que la investigación para su proyecto de tesis fue financiada por una beca en el Instituto de Estudios Avanzados en Humanidades de Essen (KWI). Desde 2017 es investigadora principal en el Centro de Investigación Colaborativa (CRC) 1288: "Prácticas de comparación: Ordenando y Cambiando el Mundo" y co-coordinadora del grupo de investigación „Afrontar las Crisis Ambientales" en el Centro Maria Sibylla Merian de Estudios Latinoamericanos Avanzados en Humanidades y Ciencias Sociales (CALAS), Universidad de Bielefeld/Universidad de Guadalajara, México. Desde 2021, Rohland también es miembro del grupo de investigación interdisciplinario Volcanes, Clima e Historia (VCH) en el Centro de Investigación Interdisciplinaria (ZiF) de la Universidad de Bielefeld.

 

Su investigación actual se centra en la historia del medio ambiente y, en concreto, en la historia de los impactos climáticos y las catástrofes, desde la perspectiva de la historia entrelazada. En este contexto, también se interesa por el Antropoceno y su importante (y desigual) prehistoria en las Américas. Junto con tres colegas de las facultades de física y biología de la Universidad de Bielefeld, ha cofundado el ciclo de conferencias Lectures for Future Bielefeld en octubre de 2019, que reúne a científicos de distintas disciplinas para debatir las múltiples crisis del Antropoceno y sus posibles soluciones. Las conferencias se dirigen específicamente no solo a una audiencia académica, sino a un público más amplio.
